The Detroit All-Stars Band has been making music for twenty-five years. The band was formed out of the desire to have a way to relieve stress after a hard day’s work of patrolling the street as Detroit Police Officers. Sergeant Michael Sanders (singer), and Police Officer Robert Joiner (bass guitar and vocal), were joined by Bounty Hunter Roderick Brown (drums), to form the nucleus of the band. The Band’s original name was T.H.I.Q.U.E. pronounced “thick” an acronym for “The Highest in Quality Unique Entertainment”. They soon became The Blue Pigs and fine tuned their craft by donating their talents playing at Senior Citizens Homes, Nursing Homes, and Detroit Public Schools. A chance meeting with a Las Vegas Casino Executive in 1990 changed the group’s fortune. The name was changed to The Detroit All-stars, to more readily identify with the Motown Sound the band is noted for and the rest is history. The Detroit All-stars have preformed all over the world. They have been the opening act for: Bill Cosby, Howe Mandel, the Temptations, Four Tops, Aretha Franklin, Earth Wind and Fire and The Platters. They are currently under contract to perform five weeks a year at Cannery Casinos and Resorts in Las Vegas Nevada.
